MENTORING/TUTORING

I offer a very low - and extremely competitive - flat rate of $85 for each live online 1:1 session per week of 75 - 90 minutes with a typical expectation of scheduling at least for 5 - 6 weeks out. I offer no misleading promises or 'guarantees' towards final outcomes. My promise' is that I will work hard with you to identify what is (or could) interfere with your success on this exam in order to greatly increase your probability of success.

Despite claims made, there are NO mock exams like the BCBA exam and percentage scores alone on these other mocks are often not directly predictive of ultimate success (but can be unnecessarily stress inducing!). A key is whether a BCBA mock exam will instruct and assist your fluency on not only content but this somewhat problematic testing process

I provide additional relevant resources as well as my own comprehensive set of 13 Abbreviated BCBA instructional mini mocks with answer keys. And for persons interested in two sessions per week, I offer a 10% reduction from the cost of two single sessions.

I've written it a bit differently since, for instance, I now have 101 numbered questions though many of these questions include more than one multiple choice response.

In Dr Lou’s Master Instructional BCBA Mock Exam, I've made a particular effort to include topics now being seen in the BCBA Exam which is NOT in Cooper and typically NOT taught in grad classes. This includes emphasis on OBM, unique elements of SCED to include visual analysis, issues around professional boundaries, support for LGBTQ/trans clients and such concepts as 'generalize matching theory,' Behavior Momentum Theory,'...among lots more

Test prep students who choose not to purchase Dr Lou’s Master Instructional BCBA Mock Exam at this reduced initial cost will continue to receive full services to include individual mocks from among my 13 Abbreviated Instructional Mini Mock Exams.

But I strongly believe you will find Dr Lou’s Master Instructional BCBA Mock Exam well worth the cost. We will also use it during test prep sessions allowing discussion, its expansion and your questions.

I expect students to schedule at least 5 - 6 weeks unless you have specific needs or timelines you'd like to discuss further. Students starting tutoring services will be asked to pay for the first session up front before going to a session by session invoice and keeping to the agreed upon schedule

My initial conversation/session is without charge though I will charge a fee of $40 if that is missed/cancelled and needs to be rescheduled.

I am open to scheduling 3- 4 sessions depending upon individual circumstances but increase my flat rate to $100 per session and will invoice in advance for those scheduled session contacts.

By invoicing session to session, you will never be 'trapped' into a prepaid number of often overpriced contacts or hours when working with me

I also offer small group BCBA test prep for folks who are already together and want group study services.

Fees are modified for small study groups with a $5 fee reduction per person dependent on the number of persons. That means 2 - 3 persons would receive a $5 reduction to the individual fee; or $75 per person. 4 - 5 persons will receive a $10 reduction to the individual fee and would be charged $70 each. Larger groups will be discussed case by case. I ask small groups to pay in advance for our first two sessions then following each session afterwards.

I am ready for all scheduled online sessions and do not schedule anything or anyone else. With this, same day unexpected cancellations or no shows are very disruptive. They also represent time blocks in which I could have scheduled another person and/or activity

Unexpected cancellations are those given with less than 24 hours warning and will typically be charged a missed appointment fee of $45. No shows will be charged $55. These will need to be paid prior to our next scheduled session. Unique circumstances to include emergencies will be considered.

While I do not request advanced payment for time blocks and have kept my services 'at will' and session to session, completing a session - or missing a session as identified by the above stated criteria - constitutes an agreement by the student to pay the invoice for that session.

Scheduled online sessions go for 75 - 90 minutes. Though differentiation and individualization means each student's session will not look the same, we will generally:

Review, check-in and update. Questions/thoughts by students are very strongly encouraged related to the last session; other study materials online and otherwise.
Follow up of any topics raised via email since the last online session,
Prioritize and address individual unique content area needs,
Discuss, questions from and review of Foundational Concepts as individually relevant, I have found this to be more often very relevant.
Consider move from behavioral concept to application to include use of both contrived and real time scenarios/vignettes,
Use of my instructional mock exams as a primary focus point with explicit attention to the non-content and structural areas of the BCBA exam to include, but not limited to, selecting the best response when more than one is (or seems) correct, eliminating choices in order to better select that which is correct when the student is less certain, recognizing the 'types' of questions asked in order to respond more effectively and overall structural dynamics of the exam.
And there are 'Dr Lou's test taking Prime Directives' which we will review and practice...a lot!
Review/provide study materials and offer individualized suggestions for personal study between sessions in order to better support and offer specific feedback to make home study more efficient.
